a strange place and time
Tenth grade, a bored high school student (father took a job abroad, I didn't speak the language) and the parents finally let me see my first rock concert.
...
I went with an Italian friend; we got lost on the train and arrived late, and had to leave early to catch the last train back. I sat next to the tower of speakers which blew out my right ear for a few days. The only song I recognized was "Little Red Rooster". I actually liked what I could hear through the din; both band and audience were mellow and into the groove. I had expected leather Hells Angels with pool cues. I think I had the band confused with Motorhead; all I knew is they mentioned cocaine in one song, and back then, that was pretty rockin'. I picked up plenty of vinyl at a later date and learned the songs, and even caught another show in the nineties. But no other concert holds such meaning for me. So, say what you will about the sound quality, set list, etc. and feel free to rip my review apart. This one rates five stars for me, as a perfect time capsule taste of America, between urine scented metro rides in a strange place.

clapping DEW
It's been a long time since I have busted out my audio tapes of this one-and there are plenty of shows where audience clapping locks in and sounds great
...
with tunes at certain shows throughout G.D. history- BUT this particular Mornin' Dew (if you can get your hands on a good audience recording) is really really boss. <-- to quote Bobby in that scene in "Festival Express" I have not listened to this recording yet but 4 solid stars for audience spirit and a groovy show. oops, 4 and 1/2 years later and I am totally WRONG - a rather hot Dew - but it is the Estimated Prophet that has the distinctive quality of CLAPPING. The Dew has a foreign dude full on getting caught up in the moment and wanting MORE. " come on! " Yes. There is a smokin' audience version of this now to grab at will. God Bless Archive and God Bless The Grateful Dead.
This is an interesting show, but sounds like it may be a monitor mix SBD. I'm not sure, but Phil is scarcely heard. There is some static, too. That
...
being said, there are some great moments (e.g. Truckin>Bird Song). Sound 3, Show, 3 = 3 stars.
